Renov-AID Project Presented at the Slovenian Energy Conference VEK 2026

On 26 and 27 May 2026, the Slovenian Energy Conference VEK 2026 took place at Cankarjev dom under the title An Efficient, Fair and Resilient Energy Transition. The event brought together representatives of public institutions, industry, academia and research organisations, local communities, and the professional public, providing a platform for discussions on current challenges and future directions in the fields of energy, sustainable development, and the green transition.

VEK 2026 represented a substantive and professional upgrade of the previous VEK24 conference and once again confirmed the strong need for joint expert dialogue, exchange of experiences, and alignment of perspectives among the various stakeholders within the Slovenian energy sector.

Already in the opening speeches and expert discussions, the importance of a long-term and holistic approach to shaping the energy future was emphasised. Discussions focused on energy-related challenges connected to the technological, economic, environmental, and social dimensions of energy development in Slovenia. It was highlighted that the energy transition is not merely a technological issue, but requires coordinated action across sectors, thoughtful development policies, strategic planning, and effective cooperation between the state, local communities, experts, and citizens.

An important part of the discussions was also dedicated to the issue of energy security and resilience in light of current geopolitical developments. Speakers highlighted the impact of current global circumstances — including the war in Ukraine, developments in the Middle East, and issues related to the Strait of Hormuz — on energy markets, supply chains, and strategic energy planning. The need to strengthen the resilience and adaptability of the energy system to changing conditions and crises was strongly emphasised.

As part of the programme section on policy, regulation, and governance, the presentation “RENOV-AID: Establishing a One-Stop-Shop (OSS) Model – Development and Pilot Implementation in Ljubljana” was delivered on the first day of the conference by Ana Tisov, Project Coordinator at IRI UL, and Milanka Ilić from the Energy Management Service of the City of Ljubljana.

The presentation addressed the development and pilot implementation of the OSS model in Ljubljana within the Renov-AID project. It introduced the establishment of an integrated support point for energy renovations, combining information services, consultancy, technical support, assistance with financing, and coordination of renovation processes. Particular emphasis was placed on the experiences gained during the pilot implementation in Ljubljana, as well as on the challenges and opportunities for the further development of the model.

Participation at the conference represented an important opportunity to present the results achieved so far within the Renov-AID project in the field of energy renovations of privately owned buildings. Particularly important is the fact that One-Stop-Shop (OSS) models are gradually becoming part of national policies and legislative frameworks due to the requirements introduced by revised European directives, which will increasingly require their broader systemic implementation in the future.

The pilot development and testing of the OSS model in Ljubljana therefore represents an important strategic advantage, enabling the city to gain timely experience, develop support mechanisms, and gradually establish the necessary structures and partnerships. This will allow Ljubljana to be better prepared for the effective implementation of the model under future legislative requirements and to serve as an example of good practice for other environments as well.

More information about the presented One-Stop-Shop (OSS) model and the results of the pilot implementation in Ljubljana is available in the professional paper that served as the basis for the presentation at VEK 2026 and is available HERE.
