Renov-AID at Hrastnik Market: from the renovation journey to accessible clean energy

On Wednesday, 2 September 2026, Hrastnik Market hosted an event on the energy of the future, organised by Focus, the Association for Sustainable Development, and the Municipality of Hrastnik within the Gender4Power project. Visitors learned about practical ways to reduce electricity consumption, finance energy renovations and participate in the emerging local energy community.

An important part of the event was gathering residents’ views on a possible connection to a new solar power plant. The energy community is being designed inclusively, so that the benefits of clean energy can also reach households experiencing energy poverty or struggling to pay their energy bills. Particular attention was given to women’s role in the energy transition, one of the core principles of Gender4Power.

The LIFE Renov-AID project was also presented at the event. Ana Tisov, project coordinator, spoke about the importance of energy renovation before investing in RES. Through the Renovation Path brochure, citizens learned about the key steps from the first idea and energy consulting to planning, financing, selection of a contractor, implementation and monitoring of the effects of renovation. The event also highlighted free and independent energy advice provided by the ENSVET network and support available through the Eco Fund’s ZER programme for reducing energy poverty. Connecting a local event with trusted advice and financial support makes the full pathway towards a high-quality renovation more accessible to residents.

For a practical and enjoyable conclusion, Focus demonstrated how to use a solar cooker. Visitors could also taste the freshly baked cake prepared using solar energy.
