ECOLOOP First General Meeting in Slovenia
The ECOOLOOP consortium gathered in person for the second General Meeting, organised by Slovenian partners on April 17 and 18. The first day began with a shuttle bus to the Biomasa pilot Site in Nazarje, which is the largest Slovenian wood pellet producer and one of four pilot sites in the ECOLOOP project. The project aims to utilize the flexibility potential of the combined heat and power (CHP) production, which, in combination with on-site battery storage systems and PV installations, will make the company active, responsive, and adaptable, prepared for future-proof operation. In addition to flexible operation of the company, the additional production of biochar and design of small modular CHP power plant will be evaluated during the project. After an extensive visit to the pilot site, led by Mr. David Špeh from Biomasa, partners continued with the meeting agenda in the conference room. The latest developments at the project level and individual work packages were discussed in the afternoon. The day concluded with the bus shuttle back to Ljubljana, just in time for social activities.
The second day was hosted at the main University of Ljubljana building on Congress Square, and the project meeting continued with several work package kick-off sessions. Among them was Work Package 5, led by IRI UL, and presented by Jernej Zupančič, who outlined the timeline for activities, that will foster the RES installations and creation of energy communities in the rural areas. The meeting successfully concluded after a day and a half of project related sessions and workshops. The consortium will continue with online calls and bilateral meetings to smoothly progress with project activities until the next general meeting, which will be hosted by the Spanish partners in October in Valencia.
