IRI UL at the EEM25 Conference in Lisbon
Lisbon, Portugal hosted this year’s 21st edition of the European Energy Market (EEM) conference. The event, which was previously held twice in Ljubljana (in 2019 and 2022), was this time organized by the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL) under the leadership of Prof. Jorge Sousa. The conference took place from May 27 to 29, 2025.
Dr. Edin Lakić and Jernej Jozič attended the conference on behalf of IRI UL, both as authors of scientific contributions. Edin presented a paper titled Unveiling Market Manipulation in EU Energy Markets – Insights from ACER Enforcement Cases, while Jernej prepared a poster summarizing the paper The Analysis of the Novel Renewable Energy Sources Support Schemes – Case of Slovenia.
In addition to research presentations, the conference offered a variety of engaging talks on key energy-related topics. Speakers addressed some of the most pressing issues, including the implementation of the new EU electricity market design, the European Green Transition, and the role of hydrogen and battery storage in long-term energy storage and grid stabilization.
On the final day, participants were also honoured by a keynote address from Maria da Graça Carvalho, the Portuguese Minister for Environment and Energy.
Alongside a packed three-day technical program, the conference also provided ample opportunities for networking and socializing. A highlight was the conference dinner, which took place on a boat along the Tagus River, offering a relaxed setting for meaningful exchanges and new connections.
It is worth highlighting that Dr. Edin Lakić received a recognition from the organizing committee for his continuous support and contribution to the organization of the conference.
Our sincere congratulations to the organizers for an excellently executed event. We are already looking forward to next year’s edition, which will take place in Scandinavia.
