People-Centred Energy Performance Certificates
The crossCert project to develop a method for cross-testing energy performance certificates (EPCs) for buildings and to promote the development of a new generation of EPCs is coming to an end. One of the key outputs is a collection of infographics showing different aspects of the system that enables the creation and use of EI. They aim to underline a seemingly simple yet key insight of the project: if we want to make EI people-centred, we need to put people at the centre of the reflection and development activities of such products and services, rather than focusing on specific technical or professional challenges related to the measurable (quantitative) quality of existing systems. Infographics in English can be found on the crossCert website:
- EPC Journey
- EPC Design
- EPC Assessors’ Journey
- EPC Promotion and Marketing
- Booklet “People-Centred EPC Products and Services”
The infographics outline EI as a social object existing in networks of social and cultural relations and are the result of qualitative research led by IRI UL. They are primarily intended to improve the understanding of the EI system for all, regardless of expertise, and serve as a tool for analysing and assessing the current state of EI in Europe. They also highlight some of the opportunities for improvement, in particular in the design of products and services, and encourage the implementation of people-centred policies.
