Second ECOLOOP General Meeting: Advancing Sustainable Agriculture and Preparing for Pilot Projects
The second ECOLOOP general meeting was held at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and brought together project partners to discuss recent progress in key work packages focusing on project fundamentals and technical development. Jernej Zupančič from IRI UL highlighted the latest developments in business model design and overall risk management, with a special emphasis on the pilot projects, which are nearing deployment.
On the second day, participants toured Finca Sinyent, a farm managed by AVA ASAJA and one of the Spanish pilot locations. Finca Sinyent plays a vital role in applying research to real-world practices, bridging the gap between innovative agricultural techniques and local Valencian farmers. As part of the ECOLOOP project, the farm will also be used for research related to fertilizers.
Along with the field visit, UPV shared updates on its research into soil health, underscoring the progress made within ECOLOOP. The consortium tackled a variety of essential topics, such as advancing renewable-based agricultural methods, decision-making tools for farmers and foresters, enhancing stakeholder involvement, fostering innovation through living labs, and refining strategies to communicate project results to a broader audience.
This meeting was key in ensuring that the ECOLOOP project is on track to meet its targets for the first reporting period, set for March 2024. With ongoing collaboration and effort, the ECOLOOP team is eager to push forward with sustainable agriculture and innovative farming solutions.
