The partners of the BARRIO project were in Ljubljana co-developing the first concept of the neighbourhood renovation tool

At the BARRIO project partners’ meeting, we jointly explored the most suitable content solutions and organizational approaches for designing a DMT tool that is as useful and tailored to local specificities as possible, based on the activities carried out.

In the first six months, the BARRIO project carried out key preparatory activities for the development of the tool and application for neighbourhood renovation. A total of 73 good practices were collected, of which 12 were selected for more detailed analysis. Four pilot areas were analysed from political, economic, social, technological, and legal perspectives: the Javornik neighbourhood in Ravne na Koroškem (Slovenia), Emilia Romagna (Italy), Gandia (Spain), and Gabrovo (Bulgaria). Based on these analyses, recommendations for the development of the tool were prepared.

Key stakeholders from the pilot areas were identified and engaged through preparatory activities to foster collaboration within both the demand and supply sides of the renovation process. On the supply side, we identified 25 stakeholders from various organizations (public institutions, managers of social and non-profit rental housing, property managers, owners’ associations and housing communities, NGOs, research institutions, and technical bodies such as “one-stop shops”). We developed an activity plan for their involvement in the preparation, testing, and promotion of the renovation tool. A monitoring system was also designed, and their interests were analysed.

We also assembled members of the Advisory Board, held an initial meeting, compiled a catalogue of projects focused on renovations, industrialised solutions, and innovative business models, and prepared a pilot activity plan.

Numerous organisational and communication activities were carried out, including the development of a communication strategy and a report on compliance with ethical requirements. Preparations are also underway for presentations at international professional events.

In the next two months, we will prepare the first concept of the renovation tool and actively involve key stakeholders in the process.
